Twitter to win Nobel prize?
"...former deputy national security advisor for the Bush Administration is lobbying to have the San Francisco-based Short Messaging Service nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for its help in facilitating communications during election protests in Iran." "Twitter and other social media outlets have become the soft weapons of democracy ...It is telling the story of the Iranian people yearning to breathe free..."

No. The Nobel Peace Prize should be awarded based on the intentions and actions of people who have worked for peace. Twitter is not a person - it is the vehicle which people in Iran have used in their quest for peace and justice. Twitter is also used for bad jokes, for petty fights between rivals, for telling the internet when one is on the john, and for many other less lofty purposes.
Giving a Nobel to Twitter because of its role in promoting peace is like giving a Nobel to the ink which Jefferson used to write the Declaration of Independence. People can say anything on Twitter, just like they can use ink to print knock-knock jokes.
Let me know when knock-knock jokes are up for the Nobel.
No! nonononnono!
Since when are online social networking sites eligible for the noble peace prize?
That's stupid. If they'd been sending letters instead of twittering would you be nominating paper manufacturers?
I don't know exactly I'd have to think about that. Maybe the people who run Twitter should be considered since I heard they did things to make it easier for people to use Twitter, and their product did change the world.
If so though I think Nokia should have people criminally prosecuted for selling software to the Iranian Government to help it spy on its people.
um, whatever.
That's..weird 0.o
If Twitter gets a Nobel prize, I deserve a Pulitizer.
Hahahahahahaha, definitely not! I mean, I find Twitter incredibly useful, but there are better media outlets in the world. The Nobel Prize is prestigious, and giving the prize to Twitter would make it seem like a joke.
@sonnetjoy - Exactly!
@sonnetjoy - That is like the greatest comment ever lol
@agnophilo - Exactly. Its ridiculous.
@shy_and_sad - hmmmm, good point
@Darn_it_danube - I definitely agree
A
bsurd! But now I'm really curious, why you say you be talking white, girl???
It's as deserving as Al Gore was for his slideshow.
@RogierFvV - lol, other people say I "talk like a white girl" I think I just talk like a regular person.
@Schristian - lol
If twitter is being used for something noble and some REALLY positive results from it, then sure I guess.
Other wise, no, it should get a prestigious prize such as the Nobel Peace prize.
i believe no.

No. Twitter is a social networking site. There is no way it will get a Nobel Prize. It hasn't affected that many lives.
How disheartening.
Just when you think the world couldn't get any more backwards...
@elelkewljay - My thoughts exactly lol
what. the. fuck.
