Some individuals like to purport that they are a part of Xanga counterculture, meaning they go against the grain of what is "normal" or mainstream on Xanga.
There is no Xanga-counter culture. In order to be a part of Xanga counterculture you would have to not be on Xanga. We are all on here in the same rat race. Even if you aren't necessarily in a rush to the finish line of featured or top blogs, we're all in the same cage, spinning the same wheels. I think it makes people think they are "cool" to talk about how they aren't trying to be cool. Everyone wants to be a rebel. But you have to actually have some type of opposition to be a rebel, and in some cases, people just imagine that they have opposition lol. No one is against you, you just think they are.
And, for the love of cupcakes (and who doesn't love cupcakes?) everyone stop trying to accuse people of plagiarizing or copying your ideas! Anything you do has probably been done before, and someone will do it after you. Its very hard to reinvent the wheel, it just is. Not because no one is creative enough, but just because there are so many people, and at some point two individuals are bound to have similar ideas.
Does this seem like a rant? It isn't really
HAPPY FRIDAY XANGAMIGOS! Don't lose your marbles over Xanga!

I totally wrote this blog like 6 months ago, you plagiarizer.
Stop being such a conformist.
I guess you just can't match my incredible creativity.
I don't understand why people are talking about being part of a counter culture. It's obvious you're not if you're on here.
You, my friend, should get an award for being the most awesomest Xanga person ever! =D
every trend around here has been done, before. it's not new... just different, we hope, depending on who's writing about it. any counter movement is just countering a trend that'll be replaced by another one, soon enough. counter-culture is ONE of them, btw.
There are some, but they're few and far between.
I invented cupcakes! You'll be hearing from my lawyer!
@TheMarriedFreshman -

@JadedJanissary - LOL!!!
@Queen_of_You188 - Why thank you!
@TheBigShowAtUD - yup, counterculture is just ANOTHER trend
@theacematt2 - True, true, that is something not done too frequently
@the_most_interesting_man - Awww shoot.
@AlterEgo909 - it's true! =D
Will try not to lose my marbles over xanga!

That is so true. What has been done before will be done again and has already been done. I love your discreption of us all being in a rat race on the wheel.
There's nothing new under the sun. Tried and trite, but true!
@the_most_interesting_man - I invented cupcakes first! See ya in court!!!!!!!!
@buddly47 - I invented court!
@the_most_interesting_man - Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're right sometimes it's a little discouraging that I can't come up with anything NEW! I love when those seemily original ideas hit you though.
All these accusations....the heat must be getting to people
Common sense... now that's a novel idea....
There are different attitudes though. There is a sort of Xanga "in crowd" going on, and it seems to be focused on getting published on top blogs etc. My own focus tends to be different, not to say I'd mind being featured, but - my blog is about my book, and thus limited to a specific readership, if they're on Xanga or not. At least half my subs are people who came form outside of Xanga, so my focus is on how well it is supporting my book, etc. Sometimes I do think that this competition within Xanga creates a sort of strange, and potentially counter productive focus, as if Xanga were on a different planet or something.
WIN!
@godfatherofgreenbay - lol, perhaps it is the heat!
@antisoccermom - Thanks!
haha, some people take xanga way too seriously.
It's all been DOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE BEFOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE! Woohoohoo!
i love how if you even put xanga in a title, everyone clicks-myself included.
i agree with the reinventing the wheel part... everything has been done or thought of. but i dont think you can have a counter culture if everyone goes in their own direction... were like a circle, so we cant point in one direction.
eh... there's counterculture here. people who run in fringe groups real life will naturally have similar opinions online.
Agreed! "unique" is such an overused concept nowadays.. for better or for worse :\
Wait a minute! I'm totally unique!!
...just like everybody else
